'...and our children inherit our dreams.' cast silicone and stoneware, 15"x50"x13" 2020 Spawned from a Tragically Hip lyric, “Balloons all filled with rain” and The Poetry of Extinction by Holly Hughes, the deflated, popped bird balloons are the absence of voice to these and other bird species that no longer fill our skies. The popped balloons also gesture to a stinger of dead birds that a hunter caries in his hand or on his belt. There is a simple primal story going on here between life and death, and a loss of innocence.

My artistic practice is a search for in-between places. Transitory-scapes that exist on the edge of historical pasts, omnipresent realities and unsure futures. These places are created at the same time as they are discovered; they deal with the idea that hegemonic images and values have penetrated all cultural space.
